Summer Colour

We were very lucky to have such a great day for the Rare Plant Fair on the last day of May. Masses of chlorophyll starved people queued up with the sun shining and the stacked plant stalls all ready for opening. Trading was brisk and keen early on with plenty of time in the afternoon for a good natter and catch up with friends and visitors from far and wide. Jo and her crew raised over £1000 for the Marie Curie Cancer care with their famous range of homemade cakes and tea; many thanks to all the helpers and bakers. We are provisionally aiming for the plant fair to be held next year on the 6th of June.

The garden is now open through the Summer and Autumn on Wednesday afternoons with plenty of action still to come. Red and yellow are always a good combo in the garden and here is a fine start with the pillar box and the yellow form of Cantua buxifolia making a lovely scene by the garden entrance. This plant has taken some time to get going after I received it from Dick Fulcher a few years ago. Its astounding where the stunning flower comes from when seen emerging from such a miserable foliage plant…..
