September is a month to start planning ahead for the Autumn planting season and sharpening the spade, as October and November are ideal for getting things into the ground. Planting in the Spring has become risky business with drier periods becoming more regular now which inevitably leads to more watering. Cooler temps, shorter days and welcome rain have revived plants in the garden no end and we are also reviewing the nursery stock and potting many plants on as there is still plenty of time for root growth before the winter.
Highlighted below are a selection of drop dead Brassaiopsis and Schefflera that we have good stocks of and are on show and for sale in the garden entrance. All nursery stock has been grown from plants in the garden that have established well and most are now showing their appreciation with annual flowering and fruiting. No petri dish derived material here!
The garden is now open in the Autumn Season on Wednesday afternoons until the end of October but the nursery is also open by appointment using contact details on this website. I’m afraid that there isn’t a mail order service available but a visit is always to be recommended and as a perk if any two or more plants are purchased this Autumn there is a discount of 10% off marked prices.
